O Lord touch our hearts this morning

Good morning, we welcome you to this morning Devotion. We come together today and we lift up this prayer to God, O Lord touch our hearts this morning.

Scripture: Psalm 119:36 – “Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.”

May we turn our hearts to the Lord’s statutes and not toward selfish gain. We’re here today to talk about the importance of turning our hearts towards the Lord, and away from our own selfish gain.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 119:36 that we should turn our hearts towards God’s statutes and away from selfish gain. What does that mean for us?

It means that we have to humble ourselves before the Lord, and put Him first in our lives. We must put aside our own desires and wants, and instead focus on serving God.

The first key idea we must consider is what it looks like to turn our hearts towards God. We can look to the example of Jesus in the New Testament.

Jesus set aside His own desires and wants, and instead focused on serving the Father, even to the point of death. He humbled Himself before the Lord and put God first in His life.

We can learn from this and apply it to our own lives today. We must also put aside our own desires and wants, and instead focus on serving God, humbling ourselves before Him, and putting Him first in our lives.

The second key idea is understanding what it means for us to turn away from selfish gain. We must be willing to put aside our own wants and needs for the greater good of God’s kingdom.

We can look to the example of the early church in Acts 2:44-45. The early church was willing to share all their possessions with each other, so that no one was in need.

They showed us what it looks like for us to put aside our own selfish desires and instead focus on serving God’s kingdom and His people.

We must also be willing to do the same, putting aside our own selfish desires and instead focus on serving God’s kingdom.

Finally, the third key idea is understanding how God can help us turn our hearts towards Him. The Bible tells us that God is faithful and will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).

When we are struggling to turn our hearts towards Him, He will be with us every step of the way. He will give us the strength and courage we need to turn our hearts towards Him, so that we can serve Him more faithfully.

So, Church, let us pray together that as we come before the Lord today, He would touch our hearts and help us turn them away from selfish gain and towards Him. May we humble ourselves before Him and put Him first in our lives.

May we be willing to put aside our own wants and needs for the greater good of God’s kingdom. And may we know that He is faithful and will never leave us or forsake us as we strive to serve Him more faithfully.

Amen.
