Privately owned educational institutions have been encouraged to register and comply with local education laws and statutes to ensure quality education and learner safety.
Speaking at Goromonzi High School on Friday 6 March during the National Independent Colleges Association of Zimbabwe (NICAZ) Mashonaland East Province athletics competitions, Provincial Education Director Mrs Anatoria Ncube emphasized that registration assures parents of quality education.
“We applaud the government for increasing access to education. Now it is our duty to respond with quality education by registering and complying with laws,” Ncube said.
She also urged embracing the Heritage Based Curriculum, saying it instills values, equips learners with survival skills, and drives Vision 2030.
“Furthermore, let us embrace the Heritage Based Curriculum (HBC) as it instills our values and culture in students.It is the driver for vision 2030 as it equips learners with necessary skills for survival.It also prepares them to be job creators not job seekers,”said Ncube
Meanwhile, NICAZ President Professor Washington Mahiya challenged youths to take sport seriously, pursue education, and shun drugs.
He further revealed plans to take NICAZ competitions international, with talks underway with Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa.
“Shun drugs, desist from love affairs. Your business is to learn and grow your talents.
“It is our vision and objective as an organisation to see every learner having an equal opportunity to participate in sport.We believe that gifts are sharpened and that they can lead someone to earn a decent living out of sport therefore talks with neighboring countries such as Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa are at an advanced stage so that we take our talented learners onto an international platform to showcase their talent.
The Mashonaland East Provincial athletics competitions were attended by nine districts namely; Goromonzi, Chikomba, Marondera, Mudzi, Murewa, Mutoko, Seke, Uzumaki Maramba Pfungwe and Wedza.
