On Saturday night 11 July 2026,music, prayer, and purpose filled the Harare International Conference Centre hall as The Salvation Army Zimbabwe Territorial Youth Timbrelists (ZTYT) hosted a fundraising dinner to finance their upcoming missionary journey to Madagascar.
The event drew officers, congregants, partners, and well-wishers who came together with one goal: to put resources behind young people called to win souls beyond Zimbabwe’s borders.
The Timbrelists, known for their energetic worship and dance ministry, said the Madagascar trip will focus on evangelism, community outreach, and soul-winning in rural communities.
“This is not just a trip, it is a mission,” one of the youth leaders told the attendees. “We are going to take the gospel to places that have never heard it, and we need the whole Army behind us.”
Guests responded with pledges, donations, and auction bids that will go directly toward travel, outreach materials, and community projects planned for Madagascar.
The guest of honour Rev. Dr. Obedia Musindo, brought the house to its feet with a heartfelt address about his own journey in The Salvation Army.
“I was nurtured and groomed in this church,” Rev. Dr. Musindo said. “The Army taught me discipline, service, and the power of a life surrendered to God. What you are doing here tonight is the same DNA — raising the next generation to go,”he said
He challenged the church to think beyond the city.
“It is critical that we give exposure to youths in rural areas. Talent and calling are everywhere, but opportunity is not. If we equip them, they will lead.
“Work very hard, pray, and work afterwards.Ministry and excellence must go hand in hand,”he said
In a moment that drew applause, Rev. Dr. Musindo urged the Army’s choir and creative teams to embrace digital platforms.
“Your choir must utilize social media such as YouTube to share the gospel and dominate the industry,” he said. “The world is on their phones. Let the message of Jesus meet them there, do not just sing in the hall – let the nations hear you,”he added
Speaking at the same event, The Salvation Army Secretary for business and administration for Zimbabwe Territory, Colonel Kennel Tineyi Mambo, thanked all donors, partners, and supporters who gave a hand towards the mission.
He urged the youths to use the resources wisely and with accountability, and to remain focused on their calling.
“Continue propelling the gospel of Jesus Christ,” Colonel Mambo said. “Let this journey to Madagascar be marked by excellence, humility, and transformed lives,”said Mambo
The fundraising dinner was supported by renowned gospel musicians who ministered and added color to the night. They included Sabastian Magacha, Trymore Bande, Norest Matende, Worshipper Larry Gunda and Bethen Pasinawako Nkolomi. Their performances lifted the atmosphere and reminded guests that the mission is carried forward through worship as well as giving.
With prayers, pledges, and praise behind them, the Zimbabwe Territorial Youth Timbrelists now move forward toward Madagascar, ready to take the message of hope to new communities.
