“A gift is able to lift up a man to prominence but character is the one which can cause one to remain on top of the ladder or to fall down,” Pastor Savison Machetu has said,
In a sermon during the Faith in God Ministries Victory Life Assembly 7th anniversary commemorations which were hosted in Glen Norah, Harare on 14 September 2025,Pastor Savison Machetu has challenged believers to work their character saying that when one lacks character, it is very easy to lose a blessing.
“A gift is able to lift up a person but bad character can erode a blessing or cause someone to fall down. There are many people who were once famous but because of their bad character they could not remain on top.
“On this conference i am challenging you to work out your character. Also, allow God to perfect your character, to prune you the same way he did with Joseph.
“Do not run away from the process but you should know that the process is there to prepare you for prominence. Joseph went through trials and persecution from his brothers but it was a process for him to reach his destiny with perfection and readiness. Let us not avoid the process,” he said.
Pastor Machetu added that believers should not forget the grace of God that has elevated them in their lives but to continue worshipping him with humbleness, righteousness and truthfulness.
“Some of us we have pride, when God has lifted us we then forget that we were once down. Some of us start to distance ourselves from the presence of God.
“I want to challenge you to imitate Esther, she said even if i am in king’s palace i will keep seeking the presence of God. Let us be consistent in our duties and purposes that God called us for. Let us serve with humility, if it is giving, serving or prayer, let us continue to do that the same way we have been doing before we were raised to prominence by God,” he added
Meanwhile, one of the attendees said “Indeed the conference has been powerful. I learnt that challenges are like a ladder to the next level. We should persist in trials, continue to seek God and remain faithful in serving him,” she said.
FIG Victory Life Assembly’s achievements for the past seven years include modernisation of their church structure, borehole drilling to address water crisis at the church, introduction of women and youth empowerment initiatives and the soul winning campaign which resulted in increased number of believers at the assembly from less than 20 members to nearly 100 believers.
