Popular Zimbabwean religious figure who is also the president and founder of Heartfelt International Ministries Apostle Tavonga Vutabwashe has called upon the body of Christ to have a positive spirit towards the nation of Zimbabwe which should be demonstrated through speaking positive and praying for the nation.
Being patriotic about the nation involves celebrating its culture, supporting its economy and advocating for its positive development and most importantly it also means respecting its diverse communities and working towards a more just and equitable society
In a message that he shared recently, Apostle Vutabwashe said that despite the challenges that might be faced by the citizenry in the country, patriotism in both words and works is of paramount importance.
“My fellow Zimbabweans we have no other country but this one. Let us grow in love for our nation and develop the habit of speaking well about it. Speaking positively about Zimbabwe does not mean we are blind to its challenges, it simply means that we are declaring what we desire to see, we speak what we want into existence.
“To everyone in the church, it is your responsibility to speak life over your country, every nation just like every family faces its own difficulties therefore train yourself to use your words wisely. No one outside of Zimbabwe will speak well of us, they have nothing to gain from it. It is up to us; it is our country.
“There are some saints who are always praying for our nation but there are also others who are wishing bad for our nation so I am encouraging you not to join those with a negative mindset,” he said.
Meanwhile, some of the citizens who expressed their sentiments about the remarks of the faith leader agreed that the success of every nation is driven by its people.
Muroza said “Indeed these are the words of wisdom from the man of God, appreciation to him,”.
Christine Kamuzunguze said “Wise words from Apostle, death and life lies in the power of the tongue, I remember from the scriptures when the children of Israel repented and turned back to God for forgiveness, God restored their land to its beautiful state, he is the same yesterday today and forever,” she said.
Eria Gwaya said “Well said thank you Apostle, I love my country,”.
“Thank you, apostle, we shall surely speak good of our very own country and pray for it as well,” said Zivai Nyeve
The church can play a crucial role in nation-building by fostering values, promoting social development, and encouraging positive change. Churches can serve as an outstanding source of moral guidance, community support, and a platform for collaboration with governments and other organizations to address national challenges.
Apart from that churches can also contribute to national development by promoting education, healthcare and economic empowerment within their communities.
