Harare-based upcoming gospel musician Definite “Sunken” Gamera has expressed his greatest ambition to guide the youths along paths of righteousness through his music which preaches about shunning evil and striving to live an upright life before God through Bible reading and being alert to on domain spirits.

“My greatest desire is to win souls through preaching the gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ. I wish to see young people living their purposes in life, which comes by obeying and walking in the ways of God. I am vigorously using music especially in Epworth to gather young people and use that opportunity to share the message of salvation. I discovered that many young people these days because of peer pressure and lack of guidance they are engaged in harmful acts such as drug abuse, unsafe sexual practices which will end up destroying their future.

“So, when I gather them through music, I then preach the word of God. I always emphasize that they should be very aware of territorial spirits which destroy destinies and that they should be prayerful and grounded in God’s word so that they can overcome. For example, in Epworth there is a spirit that suppresses progress in life so we are gathering together with the youths for prayers and spiritual awakening,” he said.

Gamera highlighted that his music mainly focuses on restoring hope to people, reviving souls and addressing social issues which people face in life.

“For example, my song called Mangwana Zvinosiyana, simply tries to encourage someone who might be seeing no future because of a tough or adverse situation that things can change anytime.

“People should know that fights are there, it might be in family or ministry but we should learn to believe in God for a way out,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gamera’s music passion was triggered by his background which he said it was disadvantaged.

“When I was growing up, I was struggling in school. The name Sunken was given to me as a nickname by my classmates after I had written broken English in a composition. From that time, my heart had so much desire to become someone in life and to make impact despite my struggles with academics.

“I want to encourage someone that refuse to be limited by a background rather be the one to stand up and change your status. Do not look down upon your gift, sharpen it until you become a meaningful somebody,” he added.

He further encouraged young people to empower themselves and to embark on some self-sustaining projects in order to eliminate thoughts of substance abuse.

“As a young person do not be afraid to start something, take away fear. Start to do something and work for a better living, you can start by selling small things and grow gradually,” he said.

Gamera’s music journey began in 2024 which his first single track titled “saka muchaitasei.To-date he has    10 finished single tracks with hit songs such as “saka muchaitasei” and mangwana zvinosiyana among others.

He has been inspired by the works of Chief Shumba Hwenje especially in the area of packaging the content to builds families and societies.
