There are renovations at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe that are ongoing and they include everything from a new water fountain to new toilets that are friendly to people living with disabilities, fire proofed store rooms and a solar-powered borehole.

These new developments followed a Memorandum of Understanding Which was signed between the Higherlife Foundation and the National Gallery of Zimbabwe on 17 June 2025, which aims to strengthen the Gallery’s Institutional Capacity through supporting the Gallerys mandate to deliver inclusive community-based Programmes while empowering artists, stakeholders and community partners by offering them tools, opportunities and space to enhance creativity and innovation.

The Highlerlife Foundation has committed to partner with the gallery to broaden engagement with children, youth and marginalized groups through vibrant educational artistic Programmes.

Raphael Chikukwa, the Executive Director of the NGZ, expressed gratitude to the Higherlife Foundation for their support.

“What a great honor for a local foundation such as Higherlife to support us as their bequest goes a long way to enable us to achieve the unachievable projects. Their support of the National Gallery at this critical moment, shall help in preserving national heritage and will foster the placement of the creative sector in developing livelihoods and skills in Zimbabwe,” said Chikukwa

He also thanked the Board, Directorate and Management of the Higherlife Foundation for their generous support.
