Bishop Richmond Makiwa, a former priest at the Anglican Church, was ordained as a bishop of Faith Family International Church, along with his wife, Therese Makiwa, as the church’s Apostle, at an event held on October 25 in Mabvuku, Harare. They were not the only ones given the mandate of preaching the gospel; seven helpers, three evangelists, and four pastors were also ordained to serve under the same church.

Apostle Choga and Archbishop Dr. E. Nyamusa led the procession, emphasizing the importance of sticking to God’s call despite the challenges one may encounter.

They also mandated the newly ordained servants to preach the word of God to every lost soul to grow the kingdom of God.

“Stay faithful to God. Share the good news with everyone. Spread God’s love and see His glory.”

Speaking after the event, Bishop Makiwa expressed his gratitude for the successful day.

“We thank God for this successful conference, and I would like to extend my gratitude to those who came to lead the proceedings. Congratulations to my wife, Apostle Theresa, Pastor Ernest Pereke, Pastor Joseph Malanda, Pastor Tecklor Nyadongo, Pastor Siwela Anderson, Evangelist Wigan Alford, Evangelist Chipo Nyamahere, and Evangelist Dumisani Ndlovu for their new roles in the work of God.”

Bishop Makiwa, celebrating one year of the church’s establishment, highlighted his spiritual journey, saying he started as a priest in the Anglican Church before resigning when the church split.

“I am not new to this industry; I have been here for quite some time. I know the demands of the field since I served under several churches before we established Faith Family.”

“I was once a priest in the Anglican Church. After the church split, I left and served under God’s Fire Ministries. Later, I joined the Holy Spirit Reformed Church. From there, God called me to start a church. We began as a small cell group with only three people, and we didn’t branch off from any other church. God has raised us, and today, here we are.”

The three-day conference, themed “Tinofamba nekutenda” (We Walk by Faith), based on 2 Corinthians 5:7, gathered people from various places.
