Bishop N. Muparutsa, Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ) President has been appointed the Global President of the African Forum on Religion and Government (AFReG during the AFReG 5 Convention held in Montego Bay, Jamaica, an honour to Zimbabwean fraternity.
This appointment comes as an honour and visibility of the able Zimbabwean clergy among others who had gathered as government representatives, business executives, civic organisations who had gathered to discuss African’s transformation through faith based leadership and integrity-driven governance.
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, is the patron of AFReG which seeks to unite African leaders across sectors to promote God centred values and ethical leadership across Africa and beyond.
Bishop Muparutsa is the current President of Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ), Vice President of Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) and Chairprson of the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD).
AFReG has the role bringing together the church and governments as they help the church to speak with one voice on policy issues on education, health; law issues that include marriage laws, corruption and religious freedom without being partisan. It has a role to nation building and social transformation as it helps to partner the government for the good of the citizens in areas like education, health and social responsibilities on corruption and drug abuse.
Apart from engaging the government, AFReG helps churches unite and work for the common good. Protestants, Evangelical, Pentecostal are brought to the same table. Churches are encouraged to partner in fighting national disasters like droughts, disease outbreaks, than fighting each other.
