Harare, Zimbabwe – In a joint effort to combat littering and promote environmental sustainability, the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) partnered with the City of Harare to conduct a mobile awareness campaign in the heart of the city’s Central Business District.

The campaign, which took place throughout the day, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of sound waste management practices among residents and businesses. One of the key objectives was to encourage the proper disposal of waste by providing appropriate waste receptacles in public vehicles and shops.
Teams from EMA and the City of Harare set up stations at various locations within the district, distributing informational pamphlets and engaging with pedestrians and commuters.
The message emphasized the negative impact of littering on the environment and urged everyone to take responsibility for keeping the city clean.
In addition to providing waste receptacles, the campaign also included a stern warning to pedestrians against littering. Those caught littering were reminded that they would face the consequences of the law.
EMA and CoH urged residents to have a sense of responsibility and ownership when it comes to waste management thus through providing the necessary infrastructure and education, hope is there in fostering a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
The campaign received positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the efforts to raise awareness about environmental issues.
Many residents and businesses expressed their commitment to actively participate in maintaining a cleaner city.
