Potraz The Hub of Data protection framework for Africa in Artificial Intelligence Digital Era

At least 120 graduated as data privacy practitioners at this year 2024 Privacy Symposium Africa which is being held in Harare Zimbabwe till 21 November.

As over 300 people from various African countries are gathering for an annual Privacy Symposium Africa which is an event yearly hosted rotating amongst African countries

Currently running in Zimbabwe organized by Unwanted Witness a Uganda based organization in combination with Media Institute Of Southern Africa and Law Society Of Zimbabwe .The event has drawn data protection officers and  commissioners from various countries across Africa for conversations and workshops on data privacy in Artificial Intelligence digital space and  to adapt the new artificial technologies in digital spaces for safer and advanced techniques .Running under the theme bridging policy, technology and societal dynamics .

Giving  his remarks Portraz Deputy General Mr. Alfred Marisa started by applauding Malawi citizens who were undertaking the data privacy protection programme which she described as the tool of transformation when upholding rights in data protection ecosystem, “I commend our graduates for putting effort to get this certification course that is set to transform entities in data privacy protection security go and work and serve ,Data protection has created a whole new carrier with relevant skills to match this new world order of  digital technologies. Data protection systems is becoming another important programme that we are urging those who need to enroll as soon as possible to so. I encourage those in businesses and working in entities data and privacy protection is the tool for transformation.

“over 50 institutions in Zimbabwe are represented on this course. I want to assure you that this was a massive effort for this practitioners will serve to secure noncompliance and compliance issues are dealt with dual diligence let’s all comply,” he said.

 “We need to go together for us to go for but The tragic that we have is we play a big raw in capacity building but we lose them through migration to other continents and diaspora so we end up training and training,” he added.

As Potraz we are very proud that we are giving you well trained people who have respect and manners on handling privacy issues in their various spaces. The secret in one’s success is found in daily routines .to graduates go and be Ambassadors of positive rights through implement standards in handing privacy. We are so glad to working with Harare Institute of Technology to make sure they have taught all necessary aspects and information to dish out quality and relevant skilled practitioners Data protection is critical in our lifetime for safety of our institution for security.

Mrs. Tistsi Mariwo  who is also the director of data protection officers expressed her gratitude on jubilation witnessing and taking advantage to graduate120 people as data protection practitioners “event marks  a historical moment in Zimbabwe as we are certifying data protection officers from various institutions in our country and beyond boarders, funded through their employers data protection and privacy serves as a key of entrustment in businesses and information transaction in our culture ,policy, Africa need to upskill and build capacity digital space ,

As thus successful Culmination of collaborative efforts between Potraz which is the data regulator of Zimbabwe and Harare Institute of Technology this the power of collaborative efforts in capacity building for the good our continent. We need more people trained into

This initiative which is the 3rd in Africa with Zimbabwe being the third country adopted this important upskill program we now have Malawi sending their practitioners to come and learn and we are glad other countries are event asking on how can they implement the same as so we have realize this a good program that need all to venture.

Ghana, Uganda and Kenya, keep learning and meeting as African countries to deepen on map frameworks for data protection capacity building programs to cut across all nations.
