Being rooted in Christ’s doctrine is the foundation that makes the church strong and live in God’s will, Overseer Gilbert Mutizira, Faith in God Ministries (FIG) has said at the Footprints of the Giants annual conference hosted by Pastor Savison Machetu at Victory Life Assembly running under the theme “From obscurity to prominence” from 11 to 14 September 2025.
“As followers of Christ we should lay our foundation in Jesus Christ. Let us be grounded in the things of God so that even when the visionary is not around, the church does not collapse or shake.
“We need to have the same spirit as of our visionaries who God has raised for us. The church should survive even in the absence of the visionary,” he said.
He also said that the church should remain committed to its role of uniting people through fellowship and empowerment sessions.
“The purpose of the church according to Hebrews 10:25 is to create a platform for believers to fellowship, encourage, uplift and give hope to one another, the church is not a building but people.
“But the most important thing is that as believer you should know the reason why you were created by God. We were created for good works in the church. Good works means living a righteous life, adultery, no filthy things but we should exhibit good works because Jesus Christ now lives inside.
“When we believed Jesus, it is no longer us who live, live, Christ lives in our hearts. Submit yourself to Jesus Christ, we were created to glorify God, to fulfil the purpose and to have a relationship with God therefor present your body as the living sacrifice before him,” he said.

Meanwhile speaking at the same conference, District Pastor Banda urged believers to be the doers of the word of God and to be very effective in applying the word of God if the footprints of excellence are to be seen by the world.
“We should be the doers of the word. When we do that we will be able to make impact hence changing the narrative. A giant is a person that leaves a mark or a legacy in the community or ministry Let us be people of influence, giants who compete in this era.
“The church should rise to prominence to challenge the world, to dominate, change the narrative and change the pattern. Let the fame of Jesus Christ be known. The world is designed to keep you unknown, to restrict you especially if you are advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ but it is our time to bring influence with the glory of Jesus Christ,” he said.
He further revealed that people of influence also play a crucial role in linking other people to their destinies saying “God also accomplishes his purposes through a man. You need destiny helpers, people who add value to your life. In life you need someone who will introduce you to the next level and these people include men of influence and those who hear from God among others,” he added.
The Footprints of the Giants was attended by many believers from across Glen Norah, Glenview and Highfields surbubs.
Entertainment was provided by Munyaradzi Munodawafa, Talent Chigwanha and minister Tawanda Midzi.
