Revitalised Torwood Hospital Breathes New Life into Redcliff
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In a rejuvenating turn of events, Torwood Hospital has reopened its doors, infusing a newfound vitality into the town of Redcliff.

Closed since the demise of ZISCO Steel in 2008, the hospital’s revival marks a significant milestone for local residents, who can now access crucial medical services within their community.

Amid the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, Torwood Hospital emerged from dormancy, offering essential healthcare services to the populace.

This resurgence was made possible by a substantial injection of devolution funds, enabling extensive renovations and the resumption of operations.

Expressing their relief and gratitude, residents of Torwood hailed the reopening as a boon for their community. No longer burdened with hurdles in accessing healthcare, they now benefit from the convenience of doorstep medical attention.

Previously, the need to incur additional expenses for ambulance services to Kwekwe General Hospital underscored the challenges they faced.

Meanwhile, in a bid to further bolster service delivery, Honourable Owen Ncube, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in the Midlands Province, spearheaded an enhanced clean-up campaign in Redcliff.

Local authorities were urged to prioritise the allocation of devolution funds towards critical services, emphasising the government’s commitment to fostering infrastructure development and enhancing the well-being of citizens.

“The time for prioritising luxuries over service delivery is over,” declared Minister Ncube, echoing the administration’s dedication to advancing the country towards an upper middle-income society by 2030 under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The strides made since the inception of the Second Republic have been evident in the proliferation of infrastructure projects, bringing essential amenities like clinics closer to previously marginalised communities.

The resurgence of Torwood Hospital stands as a testament to this commitment, signalling a promising era of progress and accessibility for Redcliff and its residents.
