Youths have been encouraged to have an active role of advancing the kingdom of God by taking a leading role in soul winning through preaching the word of God to their peers, Evangelist Marshal Nangati has said during an exclusive interview with ZimGospel Masters magazine.
Evangelist Nangati said that Christ died for souls therefore he has mandated all Christians as his disciples to witness Jesus Christ to every human race.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, this means that as the disciples of Jesus Christ we should preach the gospel of Jesus which brings salvation to humankind.
“As young people, when we preach to our peers, they receive the word better because they will be believing that the word of God has been effective to change some of their generation and by that we can also achieve snatching this generation from drug and substance abuse and other worldly behaviors,” said Nangati.
He further expressed that in order for soul winning to be effective and successful, those doing it must be living a righteous life and have a good heart.
He also advised using social media and door to door sessions as powerful methods of doing soul winning revealing that youths have become more active on social media than on any other platforms.
“Soul winning is really a battle because you want to fight to take someone from the darkness where they are entangled. So, for the process to be successful, people must know the Jesus whom they are preaching, live a righteous life and be prayerful.
“These days many of the youths are active on social media. Social media has created a global village which we can utilize as evangelists to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We can use Facebook or even WhatsApp groups to push and circulate our sermons and I am sure it will help this generation.
“I am challenging all the youths and young evangelists that we should not relax, let us make sure that every hour we share the gospel of salvation and we win a soul. Let us use all means necessary to deliver young people from the evil of the world,” he added.
Alfred Phiri who shared his experiences with soul winning concurred that the exercise really needs to be fully equipped in order to avoid embarrassment.
“When I began soul winning, I had great zeal so I began it prematurely. Sometimes when I got into the community to preach, I could be sometimes embarrassed, people would ask me to explain some bible scriptures that I had no more revelations about and I would fail to stand my ground. I now know that as preachers we should know the word of God very much and know the Jesus Christ we are preaching.
“I would encourage those who might want to do soul winning to equip themselves with the word of God and if possible, to be under mentorship of someone who has been doing it for quite some time,” he said.
Soul winning is part of the great commission as the bible in Mark 16:15 says ” And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”.
