It is the role of the strong commitment in collaborating with government’s call to end drug and substance abuse through teaching and good practice as Christians, Bishop Dr. Joe Guti of Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa Forward in Faith Ministries International (ZAOGA FIFMI), has said during the Greater Harare Legacy Big Sunday service held in Glamis Arena, Harare on Sunday 7 September 2025.
“We stand as a church to declare and make a bold statement in agreement with our government to say no to drug and substance abuse.
“Drug abuse is not part of our legacy as ZAOGA FIFMI so to every youth you need to shun the consumption of drugs. In case you were coming to church whilst taking drugs, you need to repent and throw them away.
“The teachings of the kingdom of God through this church have added value and brought impact to the lives of our believers,” said Guti.
Bishop Guti further challenged the congregants to remain rooted in the true doctrine of Jesus Christ which the late Founder Archbishop Professor Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti had taught the church saying that it is everyone’s responsibility to keep the legacy of the great servant of God alive.
“Today we have gathered to remind each other that God is the owner of this church and that it is not coming to an end. As members of the church, let us be responsible to preserve the legacy of our Father and we can only do that if we truly hold onto the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ which he left us with.
“You need to challenge yourself if the legacy us safe with you. Let us carry the button stick and march on, let us be the try disciples. The legacy should be safe to the rich single women, young people and the girl child,” he added.
Meanwhile, senior Archbishop Professor Eunor Guti utilized the opportunity to officially introduce and endorse Dr. Joe Guti as the President of the Pentecostal movement.
“We should fully welcome and respect our leader who God has given us. We did not get him as our leader through the executive or the council but he has been fore-ordained by God to carry the mantle of leadership for this great movement.
“As for me I had known that he was going to be our father 31 years ago when God revealed it unto me but I could not say it until God had done so. So, I am here to officially introduce to you our Presiding Bishop, the International Chairman of ZAOGA FIFMI, Apostle Dr. Joe Guti together with his wife Rev. Nyasha Guti.
“On behalf of all members of ZAOGA FIFMI I say, we receive him as our father to lead us just as Joshua led the children of Israel when Moses was gone,” she said.
Presiding Bishop Dr. Joe Guti assumed the position when the Founder of the movement Archbishop Professor Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti passed away in 2023.
