We all love a weekend, especially when we’re able to take a break from work and responsibilities and just relax.

But if we’re not careful, we can allow the weekend to become an escape from our faith.

When Saturday and Sunday arrive, it’s easy to neglect spending time with God and instead focus on our own wants and needs.

  • Grab your own copy of your latest ZimGospel Masters Magazine

But God has given us the weekend as a time to rest and to draw closer to Him, and He wants us to use it to its fullest potential.

The Bible speaks often of rest. In Exodus 20:8-11, God commands us to keep the Sabbath day holy.

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus invites us to come to Him for rest.

And in Hebrews 4:9-11, the writer encourages us to take advantage of the rest that God has provided for us.

So, how can we make the most of our weekends?

  1. Put God first.

When the weekend arrives, we have a tendency to prioritize our own wants and needs over everything else.

But if we want to make sure our weekends are filled with rest and peace, we must fight the urge to forget about God and instead make Him our number one priority.

  • Take some time for yourself.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the things we have to do during the week.

That’s why it’s important to take some time for yourself on the weekend.

Whether it’s going for a walk, reading a book, or meditating on Scripture, find something that helps you relax and unwind and make sure to do it each weekend.

  • Spend time with family and friends.

The weekends can be a great opportunity for us to connect with those who are important to us.

So, take some time to catch up with family and friends and just enjoy being in their presence.

Let’s make this weekend a time of rest and renewal for our souls.

Let’s put God first, take care of ourselves, and make time for those we love.

May we use this weekend as an opportunity to draw closer to God and to experience His peace and joy in our lives.

Amen!
