In a powerful address to women in Gokwe, renowned Chaplin Christine Phiri shared her inspiring story of overcoming adversity to achieve self-sustainance.
The Zimbabwean pastor and chaplain urged women to embrace empowerment initiatives and work hard to secure their financial futures.
“I remember many years ago when things became hard for me, I began to beg for help from people and I remember very well when I got to a pastor’s house who was serving in ZAOGA, I expected to get things from them but what they only did was to give me small capital to start a small business.
“They told me to go and buy to start to sell which was the pivotal moment that set me on the path to success.
“At first I was disappointed but I later discovered that it was a way of empowering me so that i could not depend on begging.I started by selling milk to people.My word to every woman is that,let us not be limited and become so stranded but let us use our hands inorder to earn a living for ourselves and our families ,”she said
Speaking on the faithfulness of God, Phiri emphasized that despite hardships, God can turn situations around and deliver testimonies – but persistence and optimism are key to manifesting His promises. “God is able to turn around situations and give people testimonies,” she said, encouraging women to hold onto faith.
Chaplain Phiri is a Zimbabwean pastor and chaplain for the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services. Born on April 6, 1979, in Rusape, Zimbabwe, she grew up in a challenging family situation, with her parents divorcing when she was 12. Phiri took on the responsibility of caring for her three siblings and later became a widow after her first husband’s tragic death in a car accident.
Chaplain Phiri is known for her inspirational sermons, which often incorporate secular music and dance.
She has authored a book, “My Life, A Great Testimony,” and has received several awards, including the Exemplary Servant Leadership and Outstanding Contribution to Church Development and Nation Building award from the Zimbabwe Christian Ministers Association
