The United Methodist Church’s Rukwadzano Rwe Wadzimai (RRW) has taken a giant leap towards women’s empowerment with the launch of Shekinah Empowerment Finance, a microfinance initiative designed to uplift women economically, socially, and spiritually.
At the inaugural board meeting, a new board was constituted, with Mrs Mildred Chiri as Board Chairperson, Mrs Paidamoyo Jakachira as Deputy Chairperson, and Mrs Rebecca Musimwa as Board Secretary. The board is set to lead key committees critical to governance and operations.
Shekinah Empowerment Finance is more than just a microfinance initiative – it’s a vehicle for transformation, enabling women to move from dependency to productivity.
The initiative integrates faith, empowerment, and economic development to address systemic poverty affecting women within the church and broader communities.
With loan disbursements already underway in partnership with a local bank, beneficiaries are being contacted, and financial literacy training is set to follow. Women across the Episcopal Area are being encouraged to submit project proposals and take advantage of this opportunity.
