Putting God First is Key to Effective Leadership

Apostle Dr. Bernie of Serving in Faith Church advises leaders to prioritize their relationship with God, emphasizing that true strength comes from Christ. Citing Philippians 4:13, she encourages leaders to seek divine ordination, highlighting God’s empowering strength, during a mentorship and leadership session.
“As a leader, put God first and love Him first,” she says.
“Without Christ, you have no strength. Be a leader ordained by God.”
She also emphasizes the importance of accountability, saying, “Own up to your mistakes, take responsibility, and be accountable. When things go wrong, admit it and learn from it. Practice self-honesty, resilience, and perseverance to grow and improve.”
On positioning oneself for success, she advises, “Position yourself for success from a place of peace and comfort. Be in control, love yourself first, and radiate love. What you give out comes back to you, so fill yourself with love. Trust that God’s favor will align with yours, bringing positivity and success into your life.”
She also encourages leaders to position oneself by networking, self-improvement, and strategic alignment. Connect with the right people, build meaningful relationships, and be a good listener. Lift others up as you rise, and inspire them to succeed alongside you.
To succeed in today’s world, she recommends staying “competitive and digitally savvy while maintaining old-school values. Have a backup plan, stay on top of marketing trends, and explore new markets and ideas that benefit others. As a leader, cultivate honesty and self-motivation by affirming your success. Set powerful goals, seek investors and mentorship, and don’t hesitate to ask for help to strike a balance.
