What is a cake if there is no happy faces and victorious songs? What is joy if there is no pain felt? Four years of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, Peniel Global Churches celebrates its lifeline in style and fashion. What started as a prayer group has become the strength, wing, inspiration and motivation to someone.
As its name stands from the biblical context, “Peniel,’’ which is derived from the story of Jacob fighting with the angel, and conquered. Church founders, Apostles Godfrey and Highden Magwaza established Peniel Global Churches (PGC) on 21 August, four years ago and registered and certified under the Christian Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ).
Despite the challenges, the church faced such as starting the ministry, God breathed his life giving breath to the church and conquered all the challenges and the first stone of the church,” Peniel” was set.
With many of the parishioners gave testimony of what God has done to their lives and also in the spiritual journey of the church. Those who gave the testimony, testified that they have seen the hand of God touch in their lives and spiritual journey. In the bible, the gospel of Matthew states that if there is two or three people in the Lord’s name, the spirit of the Lord is in the midst too.
Apostle Magwaza reiterated the church was primarily established to spread the word of God under the influence of the Holy Spirit. “We are conducting a local church under the leadership of Lord Jesus Christ and under the direction of the Holy Spirit in accordance with all the commandments and the provisions set forth in the Holy Bible,” he said.
“As a church, we observe a code of doctrine, discipline and a form of worship in accordance with our statement of faith, and we have established membership of the church by congregants subscribing to the statement of faith.
The apostle went on to say the church functions like any other denominations and conducts regular religious services for the fellowship of its congregants; where it had other structural forms of the church which is the Junior church and the youth.
With the world going digital, the church has left no stone unturned as it spreads its messages through its electronic media and also through religious services, theological, seminars, crusades, broadcast media, and any other means they deem fit according to the will of God.
The church will be carrying out philanthropic works in the society as a way of fulfilling the doctrine of giving. “We are going to establish an organisation that will focus on social responsibility and facilitate in the provision for the needy as the church continues to grow,” he said.
Apostle Magwaza underscored they have faced financial challenges to run the ministry but God has helped them through and “we believe He will be with us.”
With the sharing of the cake between the parishioners, PGC remarks its ministerial beginning with five people, within a year, it managed to build assemblies in some parts of Harare, Kadoma, Mudzi, Kariba, Bulawayo, Chinhoyi, Murehwa and Mutoko.
