Prophet Walter Magaya, the leader of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance church, has pledged to rescue the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League side Maningi Queens FC citing poor administration.
The soccer-loving prophet said he will try to help the team stay afloat for the remainder of the season.
Norton based club, which was promoted into the Premier Soccer League in 2023, wrote to the ZWPSL notifying them of its withdrawal on Monday, citing poor administration.
Maningi Queens are currently in the relegation zone with 15 points from 20 games.
Maningi FC player’s parent appeal to Prophet Magaya for intervention following the withdrawal of the club from the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League due to a lack of funding.
Last year, Magaya sponsored more than US$300,000 in women’s football to cater for the league and a knockout tournament.
Club director Gladman Dimbiri, who is based in the United Kingdom, told ZimGospel Masters that their aim was to divert young girls away from the streets and to protect them from activities that could lead them into a life of crime and debauchery.
