Prominent Nigerian preacher Apostle Joshua Selman has said that lack of “destiny helpers” is the reason many people remain stuck in life, declaring that divine connections are often the difference between struggle and breakthrough.
Speaking during a sermon shared recently, Selman told congregants that progress to the next level of life is frequently dependent on people positioned by God, not on personal effort alone.
“Life is as hard as your absence of helpers. If there are no helpers in your life, your life can be unbearably hard,” Selman said. “Some of you, it is time to go to the next level, but you just need one helper. And honestly, the way you are, if a helper does not show up, you will not rise.”
The clergyman drew a distinction between pursuing influential people and being helped by those sent by God.
“When you try to meet men and then search for them by yourself, sometimes they end up frustrating you,” he stated. “But when God sends them on an assignment in your life, helping you becomes a ministry, not a privilege. They will do it with a preacher’s commitment.”
Selman recounted personal experiences where he was instructed by God to assist people he did not know, saying he carried out the task with the same dedication given to his ministry, Koinonia.
“There are people God sent me to. I do not know them, or I did not know them when I met them, but God just instructed me to help them,” he said.
During the service, Selman issued what he termed a prophetic declaration for his listeners.
“I place a prophecy on your head: may helpers arise to help you. Let it not exceed this week,” he declared.
He urged believers to have both discernment and humility when assistance comes, noting that God ordains specific people to be part of an individual’s journey.
“There are people God has ordained to be part of your journey. When they show up, may you have the wisdom to recognize them and the humility to receive the help they bring,” Selman said.
He also charged the congregation to become helpers themselves. “May God also make you a destiny helper to someone who is trusting Him for an answer?”
The preacher emphasized that many opportunities and open doors are linked to relationships.
“Never underestimate the place of destiny helpers in the fulfilment of your assignment. There are doors that will open because someone remembered you. There are opportunities that will come because someone mentioned your name,” he said.
He cautioned against frustration and comparison, telling listeners to remain faithful while waiting for God’s timing.
“Therefore, do not be frustrated when you see others advancing. Your season will come, and when God is ready to move you forward, He knows exactly who to send. Keep preparing yourself, keep growing, keep trusting God, and remain faithful with what He has committed into your hands.”
