Disability Advocate and entrepreneur, Yolanda Munyengwa, has challenged young female entrepreneurs and persons with disabilities to set excellence as a goal in business and to surround themselves with supportive and determined people, after she has been awarded the Woman in Business Against All Odds Rising Entrepreneur at a colourful award ceremony that recently took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Harare.
“Success comes after heart work. Consistency and perseverance is key to achieve goals in life. My advice to other women in business and to persons with disabilities is that believe in yourself and your abilities, do not let obstacles hold you back from pursuing your passions.
“Also, it is important to surround yourself with supportive people who encourage and motivate you, stay focused, work hard, and never give up on your dreams,” she said.
Sharing about what the milestone means to her life and career, Munyengwa said “I am overwhelmed with gratitude and pride upon receiving the Woman in Business Against All Odds Rising Entrepreneur award.
“This recognition validates my hard work, dedication, and perseverance in building Gumdrop Detergents into a successful brand that resonates with teenagers and supports young people. It is an honor to be acknowledged for my contributions,” she added.
The awards ceremony took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Harare’s CBD. The theme was centered around recognizing and celebrating excellence in business, specifically the ‘Woman in Business Against All Odds Rising Entrepreneur’ award that I received. I’m proud to have been part of this event and grateful for the acknowledgment of Gumdrop Detergents’ impact. Munyengwa is passionate has a professional and diverse background in advocacy, entrepreneurship, media, and youth empowerment. As an SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) advocate, disability activist, and human rights advocate, she is deeply committed to promoting inclusivity, empowerment, and social justice. With a dynamic presence in radio and TV, she strives to amplify important voices and foster meaningful conversations.
