Eastern Conference Churches rally behind Daisy Dube Children’s Home

The United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe’s Eastern Conference has demonstrated its commitment to serving vulnerable communities through a generous donation to Daisy Dube Children’s Home.

On July 21, Eastern Conference, Superintendent, Rev. G. Dhundu, handed over clothes, groceries, and other essential items to the home.

This comes after a devastating fire gutted the Children’s Home in Mt Selinda Chipinge. The home provides a safe haven currently to 23 orphaned children and this disaster has left them without roof over their head, food to eat and clothes.

The donation is a result of collective efforts by churches in the Eastern Conference, including Checheche and Chipinge, as well as individual contributions.

“We are honored to be part of this collective effort to support the Daisy Dube Children’s Home. Our donation of eight mattresses is a small gesture of our commitment to helping these vulnerable children.”

“As a church community, we felt compelled to contribute to this cause. We hope our donation helps bring some comfort and stability to these 23 children who lost so much in the fire.”

“Giving back to the community is a value we hold dear. We’re grateful to have been part of this initiative and hope our contribution makes a tangible difference in the lives of these children at Daisy Dube Children’s Home,” said Rev Dhundu.

An organisation led by Mr. Mugobo donated eight mattresses to the home, highlighting the impact of partnerships in addressing social needs.

The UCCZ leadership encourages the church family and the public to continue supporting the rebuilding efforts at Daisy Dube Children’s Home. RemitHope, a partner organization, is working with the UCCZ to restore hope at the home by building cluster homes for the children. Contributions of any amount are welcome to support this noble cause.

So many programs are being put in place by the leaders to make sure the children’s home returns to its original state.

The government has also extended a helping hand to the Children’s Home.

The donation was officially handed over by the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, during a visit to the home at Mt Selinda.
