Men Challenged to be Responsible for their Families

Men of clergy have challenged all men to depict and represent the true image of the head of the house by unconditionally taking care and provide for their families. This comes as the number of fathers who neglect their children and cases of domestic violence continue to be reported in some societies.

This has been witnessed also by the increased demand of counselling sessions in churches and people who continue to seek maintenance order through the Civil Court with however a strong urge for the church to compliment government’s efforts to build strong societies and reduce divorces.

In an interview with ZimGospel Masters magazine, Evangelist Emmanuel Machokoto encouraged all men to work very hard, to have the heart of the father and make sure that within their means and capacity they cater for the welfare of the family.

“Being a father is not the title that comes with having children, but it is about taking a responsibility to make sure that the children have something to eat, wear and have better education.

“The reason why we encourage men to value education of their children is that, in this era education is a key to many doors and opportunities. Every job requires someone who can read and write,” said Machokoto

Pastor Gilbert Morashe of Gracehill International Ministries expressed displeasure and disgrace to those men who abandon and leave their families stranded while urging men to find some informal means of providing for their families in the case that they are not formally employed.

“It is really a shame to hear that a father abandons his family. I want to advise men not to just seat but to find even informal means of survival, they can do some piece works or even to sell. Please take care of your families and children, they will look after you in your old age,” said Morashe

The number of women applying for maintenance for children in civil courts countrywide has declined by 20 percent in 2022, a development legal experts and gender advocates believe is a direct result of paltry amounts being awarded that do not reflect the cost of living and so are not worth seeking.
