A phenomenal businesswoman who started a thriving income-generating business with just $30 credits her success to faith in God. Anesu Charmaine Munemo, widely known as Anesu The Hair Doctor, recently shared her inspiring entrepreneurship journey on Zimbabwe’s largest personal development podcast, Wisdom and Purpose with IME.

Anesu’s story is a powerful testament to perseverance and faith. She left her job as a till operator at TM Pick n Pay to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams. “After I left my job, I was wondering what to do next. I prayed to God, and He responded to me in my dreams,” she revealed during the interview.

Before leaving her job, Anesu was already selling skin and hair care products on the side. However, frustrations at work made her decision to leave inevitable. “I left my job because of some frustrations that were happening at work,” she explained candidly.

Anesu’s success did not come overnight; it was built on a foundation of important principles that she shared during the interview. The first, she emphasized, is hygiene. “You must bathe and look good. People often buy what you’re selling because of how you present yourself,” she stated confidently. This insight highlights the significance of personal appearance in establishing customer trust and credibility.

Discipline also played a key role in her journey. Anesu emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and consistency in business endeavors. Alongside discipline, humility was another quality she highlighted. “Being humble allows you to learn and grow,” she said, emphasizing that success is not just about individual effort but also openness to advice and continuous improvement.

Another crucial factor in her entrepreneurial success is mastering the art of approaching and connecting with people. Understanding customer needs and building relationships can make a significant difference in any business. Anesu explained that learning how to engage with clients respectfully and effectively helped her expand her customer base.

From a humble beginning with only $30 capital, Anesu The Hair Doctor has grown into one of Zimbabwe’s most successful businesswomen. Her journey is a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs, especially those facing obstacles or uncertainty. Through a combination of faith, discipline, humility, personal care, and genuine human connection, Anesu has turned her dreams into reality.

Her story reminds us that success is rarely accidental. It requires determination, a clear vision, and often, a leap of faith. For anyone looking to follow in her footsteps, Anesu’s advice is clear: maintain your hygiene, stay disciplined, remain humble, connect genuinely with people, and never underestimate the power of prayer.
