Having many players in the music industry is a good opportunity for diversity and meaningful networking and collaborations as the ministry is driven by passion, focus and determination towards the same goal of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, and not a platform of rivalry, Rhoda “Aunty Rho” Chikapoya, UK based emerging gospel musician has said.
“As a new artist, I have been both surprised and humbled by the support from my male counterparts. Rather than competition, I have experienced collaboration. I don’t view ministry as a rivalry; we are all different parts of one body, but serving one Kingdom.
“We should understand that God reveals himself uniquely to each of us so I celebrate the diversity of expression. We all carry a divine assignment so as a musician my focus is on walking faithfully in mine while encouraging others in theirs, my priority is obedience not comparison,” she said.
Aunty Rhoda appreciated the exposure and opportunities that she has been getting from operating in a foreign land pointing out that the greatest opportunities have been quality productions and technology.
“Doing music in a foreign land presents both blessings and challenges. Firstly, there is access to quality production, professional training in music and global platforms.
“Also, technology has become a powerful bridge. Through platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and other social media platforms I have been able to reach audiences in Zimbabwe and beyond.
“Above all I am deeply grateful for the encouragement from my family and friends around the world. I also appreciate the training, support and mentorship from my director, Pastor Savannah and to Pastor Nyagota, Pastor Magadzire, Pastor Dube, Bishop Marozo and Pastor Meque for their guidance and unwavering support. Not forgetting @RhorhoMusic management, the Christ Assemblies Intercession Group, my church family, the Sisters Keepers Intercession Group, and fellow artists who have championed me along the way,” she added.
Speaking about her music, Aunty Rhoda expressed that her music is unique in that it is not about imaginations but a fountain of hope, healing and restoration as it is inspired by deep encounters that she had with God.
“What makes my music and ministry unique is that I sing from a place of lived experience testimonies shaped by divine healing, grace, and the unwavering mercy of God. My songs are not imagined or borrowed; deep encounters inspire them with the Lord Jesus Christ, when I declare “He is Lord”, it is not just a lyric but the truth of my life. I have seen him rescuing me from the brink, when there was no diagnosis and no hope, yet he healed me miraculously, so that kind of encounter produces a conviction that no one can fabricate.
“These songs are not mine; they were given to me by the Holy Spirit to minister healing, hope and deliverance. I am simply a vessel, his mouthpiece that is carrying the sound of heaven to those who are hurt or searching. Whether it is contemporary gospel or Afrobeat-infused worship, I do not confine myself to a genre, but I just follow the divine instruction and release what God entrusts me with,” she said.
She further highlighted that her music seeks to exalt the Highest and to spread the message of salvation to the world.
“Above all, I remain rooted in the Word and grounded in prayer. My goal is not just to produce good songs but music that carries spiritual weight, shifts atmospheres and draws people closer to God—in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
“The heartbeat of my music is the Lordship of Jesus Christ. This is not just a message; it is the foundation of every song that I release.
“My recent singles, Abundant Grace and He Is Lord, are built on the unshakable truth that Jesus reigns. Abundant Grace has been inspired by John 1:16, celebrating the overflow of grace we have received from his fullness. He is Lord echoes Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:9, declaring salvation to all who call on his name.
“There is no grace without Lordship. The cross did not just save us, it crowned Jesus as Lord. Because he is Lord we walk in grace, authority and purpose. My track He Is Lord is more than a melody; it is a spiritual proclamation inspired by Ephesians 1:20–22. It declares Christ’s resurrection power and supreme authority and it is a call to transformation and surrender,” she added.
Born and raised in Gweru Zimbabwe, Rhoda Chikapoya discovered her calling as a musician at a tender age when she was in school and later joined the church choir in the Methodist church, where her passion for worship and ministry was nurtured.
When Aunty Rhoda later relocated to the United Kingdom, she joined another church choir and began to serve as a backing vocalist for established United Kingdom artists. Her passion did not end there, but she co-founded a gospel music promotion business with other partners, supporting musicians from Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Aunty Rhoda’s songwriting journey began during her time of mourning when she lost her mother, songs became a therapy for her to heal from the wounds which were caused by the death of her mother. Over time, God opened doors that led her to embrace the calling as a solo artist, which allowed her to release a debut single in 2024 titled “Abundant Grace”.
Rhoda Chikapoya has released two singles titled “Abundant Grace” and “He is Lord”, which led her to get international recognition. The 2025 Extended Play (EP) with five songs is still under production and is expected to be released before the end of the year.
