ZESA, in response to circulating social media claims, has clarified that it has not increased tariffs. Dr. George Manyaya, ZESA’s Stakeholder Relations general manager, affirmed in an interview with ZBC News that the power utility’s tariffs remain unchanged since December 2023.
While tariffs are denominated in United States dollars, customers have the flexibility to pay in their preferred currency at the prevailing bank rate.
Dr. Manyaya emphasized the importance of electricity conservation amidst challenges such as depleted water levels at Kariba Dam. He urged customers to use electricity sparingly to preserve energy resources.
