In a determined display, the Lady Chevrons bounced back from their opening loss against Vanuatu to secure a convincing victory against UAE.
Opting to bat first, UAE struggled to build momentum and were restricted to a modest total of 105 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, Zimbabwe’s openers, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano and Captain Mary-Anne Musonda, showcased exceptional batting prowess, laying a solid foundation with a brilliant partnership.
Mugeri-Tiripano contributed 36 runs, while Musonda added 26, guiding their team to victory in just 15 overs.
The win marks a significant confidence boost for the Lady Chevrons as they prepare to face Ireland in their upcoming match.
Head coach Walter Chawaguta expressed confidence in his team’s readiness, emphasising the importance of thorough preparation and execution.
With both teams having secured a win each and two points apiece, Zimbabwe and Ireland are currently positioned third and second, respectively, in the qualifiers.
