Relying on God’s Might and Power

Relying on God’s Might and Power

As we embark on a new day, let us begin with a reflection on the profound truth found in the scripture on relying on God’s might and power.

Today’s focus is on the timeless wisdom encapsulated in the words, “It’s not by my might nor by my power” from the book of Zechariah.

  • Grab your own copy of your latest ZimGospel Masters Magazine.

In Zechariah 4:6, the scripture reminds us, “So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.”

These words were spoken to Zerubbabel, a leader facing a daunting task of rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. However, the message extends far beyond a historical account; it resonates with each of us in our daily lives.

How often do we find ourselves striving, pushing, and exerting our own might and power to overcome challenges and achieve our goals?

In the busyness of life, it’s easy to rely on our strength, intelligence, and resources.

Yet, the scripture reminds us that true success and lasting victories come not from our abilities but from the empowering presence of God’s Spirit in our lives.

Take a moment to reflect on your own journey. Are there areas where you’ve been relying on your might and power rather than seeking God’s guidance and strength?

It could be in your relationships, career, health, or personal growth. Whatever it may be, let us be reminded today that we are not alone in our struggles.

The Apostle Paul reinforces this truth in Philippians 4:13, declaring, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

The key lies in acknowledging our dependence on God, surrendering our self-sufficiency, and opening our hearts to His Spirit working within us.

As you step into the challenges and opportunities this day brings, remember the promise in Isaiah 40:29: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

Our Heavenly Father is not distant or indifferent to our struggles. He invites us to lean on Him, acknowledging our limitations, and trusting in His limitless might and power.

Let’s make it a habit each morning to surrender our plans, dreams, and efforts to God.

Seek His guidance, invite His Spirit to lead, and watch as He unfolds His divine plans in your life.

In moments of weakness, let His strength be your anchor; in times of uncertainty, let His power be your guide.

May this day be a testimony to the truth that our achievements are not by our might nor by our power but by the indwelling presence and strength of our gracious God.

Amen.
