Bless the LORD with Your Whole Being

Psalm 103:1 is a call to worship and adoration: “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.”

In this verse, the psalmist stirs his own soul and calls upon all that is within him to praise and bless the Lord’s holy name.

It’s a passionate declaration of devotion and gratitude, urging the entirety of his being to worship the Lord with fervour and sincerity.

To “bless the LORD” means to speak well of Him, to exalt His name, and to acknowledge His greatness and goodness.

It’s a response of adoration and thanksgiving for who God is and for all that He has done.

The psalmist’s exhortation to bless the Lord with “all that is within me” emphasises the depth and sincerity of worship.

It encompasses not just outward expressions of praise but also the innermost thoughts, emotions, and desires of the heart.

True worship engages the whole person – mind, heart, soul, and strength – in honouring and glorifying God.

As we reflect on this verse, let us be inspired to worship the Lord with our entire being. Let us offer Him our heartfelt praise, lifting our voices in songs of adoration and thanksgiving.

And let us also surrender our innermost thoughts and desires to Him, allowing every aspect of our lives to be a testimony to His greatness and holiness.

Today, may we join with the psalmist in blessing the LORD with our souls and all that is within us.

And may our worship be pleasing and acceptable in His sight, bringing glory and honour to His holy name. Amen.
