Ten-year-old UK-based Zimbabwean singer Alisha Makombe has made an impressive debut with her gospel-inspired single “Muri Mwari”, showcasing her remarkable vocal skills and Christian faith. Following in the footsteps of her mother, celebrated gospel artist Eleana Makombe, Alisha’s song has received a warm welcome from listeners since its release in 2025.
In a recent interview with ZTNPRIME, Alisha shared the meaning behind her song, describing God as faithful and compassionate. She also spoke about her role model, Eleana Makombe, expressing admiration for her music and dance moves, and revealing how her parents encouraged her to sing for God from a young age.
“The song means that you are God, a faithful and compassionate God”
“My role model is Eleana Makombe. She is a really good woman, and I love her music. She has some great dance moves, and I love them. When I was little, I thought it was really good to sing for God, and my parents also inspired me to sing,”she added.
Alisha motivates fellow young aspiring singers, saying they have a great chance of success if they persist and continually practice to perfect their craft, ignoring mistakes and focusing on positive feedback.
“To all the children my age who want to start singing, I would say that you have a good chance of succeeding. You will do a great job if you keep singing. You will get great comments and likes, but just make sure you perfect everything. Practice over and over, because if you only practice once, you might make mistakes”
Meanwhile, she said, ‘I feel happy inside, and I want to thank all the people who are liking and subscribing. Thank you so much. What can you expect from me next? I’m working on a new song that Macdee Chidavaenzi will be writing for me.'”
