The Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFM) President Bishop Amon D. Madawo, during the National Youth Conference at Rufaro in Masvingo, has challenged youths to be established by God and have deep roots in Christ so that they do not be the victims of the negative things of the world, peer pressure and social ills.

Drawing his main message from 1 Samuel 3:1-9;19-20 and 2 Chronicles 20:20, Bishop Madawo expressed that one can only be established by God and be strong in Jesus Christ if he or she obeys God, ministers and serves in the ministry and have a spirit of humility and submission to the church leaders.
“Being established by God means that one is validated, endorsed, authenticated, affirmed, supported and sustained by God. The reason why some young people succumb to peer pressure is that they seek validation in people and other things but if you know that you have been established by God, you do not look for people to validate you regardless of your background or literacy level.
“As a youth you should know that you are God’s workmanship created in Christ for good works which God created before the foundation of the world that you can walk in there. The establishment is in Christ, everything about you is in Christ and outside him you are nobody, you can do nothing. You are God’s project, plan, vision, purpose and work therefore no demon or spirit can stop, hinder and destroy God’s project,” he said
He further encouraged young people to be active vessels in the ministry whilst encouraging them to be obedient, submissive and to have a teachable spirit so that they can benefit from God’s blessings and gifts through their leadership.
“A youth who is established by God serves, ministers, prays and works in the house of God so i therefore encourage you all to possess these attributes.
“Some of you miss the blessing because you do to obey or submit to your Pastors, you should know on this day that your blessing and destiny is in your Pastor, God speaks a blessing and grace through your Pastor,” he added
Meanwhile some of the youths who shared their experiences after the conference revealed that their lives have been transformed both spiritually and economically as they were taught on how to be strong and stand firm in all aspects of life despite some challenges that might arise.

Tatenda who attended the conference said, “As a young man I have been taught to work with my hands, to be a good vessel in the house of God and above all to adhere to the directives from God through his word or chosen servants.”
Tadiwa added that, “As a young lady I have been empowered in terms of becoming independent, self-sustainable and self-reliable so that we will not fall the victims of sexual harassment in trying to look for men who can cater for our welfare. I also learnt to be a prayerful youth in this dangerous world that has negatively affected some young people through drug abuse and prostitution,” she said
The National Youth Conference is an annual event which draws youths from across the continent and this year’s edition has been running under the theme “Established and built on Christ”.
The Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe was established on 25 May 1908.
