As children of God, we have been given a remarkable gift – the ability to live a life free from the grip of sin. In 1 John 3:9, we are reminded that “whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”
This verse is not suggesting that we are perfect or that we will never struggle with temptation, but rather that we have been empowered by God’s seed within us to resist sin and live a life that honors Him.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, His seed is planted in us, and it remains there, guiding us and strengthening us as we walk through life. This seed is the very essence of God’s nature, and it gives us the ability to overcome sin and live a life that is pleasing to Him.
But what does this look like in practical terms? How do we tap into the power of God’s seed in our daily lives? First, we must recognize that we are not alone in our struggles. We have the Holy Spirit living within us, guiding us and empowering us to make choices that align with God’s will. When we feel tempted or discouraged, we can turn to Him for strength and guidance.
Second, we must immerse ourselves in God’s Word. The Bible is a powerful tool that helps us understand God’s nature and His plans for our lives. As we read and study the Scriptures, we are reminded of God’s love and grace, and we are equipped to face the challenges of life with confidence and courage.
Finally, we must surround ourselves with people who support and encourage us in our walk with God. The Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation, but rather in community with others who share our values and our commitment to living a life that honors God.
Reflection: Take a moment to reflect on the power of God’s seed in your life. How has it helped you overcome sin and temptation in the past? Ask God to continue to guide and strengthen you as you seek to live a life pleasing to Him.
