Senior citizens from across the country are set to benefit from a family show and a Christmas party scheduled for 19 December 2023 at Hellenic Sports Club in Harare.
The event will be hosted by Happy Age Foundation with the mandate of showing senior citizens love and to rekindle their social life.

In an interview with ZimGospel Masters, the organisation’s Programmes Coordinator Rumbidzai Jairosi said that senior citizens have been suffering discrimination in families, a situation which exposed them to mental health problems.
She further revealed that as an organisation they identified a need to close that gap and to create an environment which would cause the elderly feel considered loved in the society.
“Usually when one gets old, the family tends to have no time with them, sometimes they are not included in family activities. Sometimes they are put in old people’s homes where they rarely find adequate visits and time from their family members. This cause them to be very lonely.So.as an organisation we realised that our senior citizens want entertainment and a healthy social life that is why we have introduced such events.
“So we work with old people’s home who help to identify the needy. These homes help us identify those who would need our services. It is just a matter of making a positive impact in their lives, “said Jairosi
Meanwhile, Happy Age Foundation administrator Michelle Kazangarare urged all families living with senior citizens to register them for this forthcoming event saying it is going to be characterised with a lot of activities which are helpful for both physical and mental health.
“All senior citizens are free to register. Only US$35 is required for them to be part of the party. We will offer good meals, educational sessions, games and entertainment among others,” she said
Entertainment will be provided by Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Pipe Band and Marimba Band.
