Chitungwiza-based gospel musician Albert Zinyemba has stressed the importance of having distinct and unique features as an upcoming musician, as a better way of breaking into the music industry and to gain traction saying that music supporters nowadays seek for new, tasty and outstanding things.

In an interview with Zimgospelmasters, Zinyemba the leader of the Praising voices highlighted that his music has gained a positive reception for just two years that he has been in the game, attributing this to his own unique style which he said he has been sticking to the originality of his voice and different melodies not trying to copy from anyone.

“The problem that we do as artists is that we try to copy everything from our legends. Learning and copying are two different things, if you are learning you are understanding how the whole art is done but with copying you will be doing just like the original thing.

“Our supporters always look for new taste,so by being original and different from others you create a good fan base. If you copy, you are actually not marketing your own brand but the one you are copying.  We are trying to have a variety of melodies, we have praise songs and worship song just to give our fans different tastes of music,” said Zinyemba

He further alluded that in as much as he is trying to be a unique brand, his focus remains on preaching the word of God and addressing some of the social ills in the society such as immorality and gender based violence among others.

“You would find out that cases of gender based violence have been on the rise and moral decay continues to affect our societies so with our music we are disseminating the word of unity, peace and love. I have a song titled “Wanano” and through this song I was educating those in marriages to value the sacred God’s principle by living in peace. As a gospel artist l try to bring clean and educational lyrics to the world, by his grace i believe that we will reach our destiny. My greatest desire is to see the world turning to God as the Bible says Jesus is the only way to eternity,” he added

Meanwhile, sharing expressions about his experience in the gospel landscape,Zinyemba said “The journey is interesting however the biggest challenge we are facing as musicians is the shortage of money to finance the work in terms of music recording and marketing,” he added
