In a jubilant gathering at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe on March 16, 2024, over 2400 enthusiastic Catholics from the Archdiocese of Harare converged for a day of fundraising, laughter, and purpose.
Their mission: to raise $15,000 for essential assets – a thousand-seater tent, a podium, and a 40-foot storage container – crucial for the Archdiocese’s future events.

Fr. Tsuro delivered an inspiring address under the theme “Baptised and Sent: I am a missionary disciple living my mission through prayer and self-reliance,” emphasising the power of collective effort in accomplishing shared goals. The event radiated joy, with lively MCs engaging attendees in laughter, dance, and generous contributions.
Dr. Annah Nyakabau, a distinguished oncologist, highlighted the importance of cancer education and consultation within the church community during her presentation.
The subsequent Q&A session underscored the urgent need to dispel misconceptions surrounding cancer.
The organising committee, led by Sr. Francisca Matongo, Mr. Dhafana, and Mrs. Nhandara, expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming support from parishes, priests, and religious attendees, reflecting on the event’s success.
Vicar General Fr. Kennedy Muguti remarked, “We are growing as a church. We are doing a great job as a church,” highlighting the positive impact of collective efforts within the Archdiocese.

Feedback from participants, including Mr. Chinguruve, a Catechist, identified areas for improvement, particularly in liturgical preparation and coordination during the concluding Holy Mass, emphasising the importance of better coordination with altar servers and lectors.
