PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has challenged preachers of the gospel to emulate the example set by the late ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries International Archbishop Ezekiel Guti in meeting humanitarian needs and encouraging productivity.
Speaking at the national hero’s memorial service at the National Sports Stadium, President Mnangagwa on Saturday said the late cleric was a good vessel for improving the welfare of people through some of his initiatives he successfully led which include the working of talents philosophy and programmes tailored for women,the vulnerable and people with disabilities.
“I challenge ministers of the gospel of God to remain alive to the fact that for a society to truly develop and prosper, our people must be uplifted from poverty into prosperity,” he said.
“In this regard, the church must preach production and productivity across all social and economic endeavours right from the household and the village levels upwards. Our people must be encouraged to work.”
President Mnangagwa described the late archbishop as a beacon of light, a voice of reason, a unifier and an advocate of peace and justice.
“We have lost a faithful servant of God, a leader, a unifier and an advocate of peace and justice.”
He has left our nation indelible footprints in our beloved motherland Zimbabwe and indeed beyond. We remember a life well-lived an the many ways in which our late national hero impacted and influenced countless people in our nation and beyond,” he said.
ZAOGA-FIFMI under the leadership of Archbishop Guti became a powerful force for progress, empowerment bd spiritual upliftment and established several institutions that benefited citizens through education and health care services.
Some of the big projects include:
- Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU),
- Mbuya Dorcas Hospital,
- Ezekiel Guti Technical College,
- Institutions of primary and secondary education,
- The ministry of blind and short sighted and
- The dressmaking school.
President Mnangagwa officially handed over the Zimbabwe National Flag to the Guti family, and 100 pigeons were released as a celebration of Archbishop Guti’s 100 years of life well lived.
In August 2021, the government awarded Archbishop Guti the prestigious order of the star of Zimbabwe in gold, which is the highest honour in the country….
