Saving is not just a financial habit. It is one of God’s principles for wealth creation. That was the central message from Apostle Shepherd Kashesha of the Church ‘World Revival Ministries’ last Sunday as he taught from Genesis chapter 41 and Matthew 25:27.
The Joseph model
God first taught the principle of saving through Joseph the dreamer. Pharaoh had a vision of seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Joseph’s counsel was simple, ‘ save’ .
Egypt set aside 20% of the grain during the years of plenty. When famine struck, that reserve fed not only Egypt but surrounding nations.
Kashesha noted that saving positions you to stand when others are falling.
“It becomes a testimony. When times are tight and others suffer,” he said
“The believer who saved can remain stable, that stability preaches and it shows the goodness of God through discipline and foresight.”
He also added that God helps those who apply principles.
“God often intervenes after we have applied His principles.” Kashesha said
He referenced the Widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17.
“By the time Elijah met her, she was down to one last meal. Yet she had survived three and a half years of drought,”
” The implication is she had been managing what she had. She saved during plenty. When she reached her limit, God stepped in and multiplied the oil and flour.” He said
He also illustrated that what you save will serve you later by using Jesus and the principle of interes in Matthew 25:27.
“Jesus tells the Parable of the Talents. The master rebukes the servant who buried his talent, saying he should at least have put the money with the bankers to earn interest,”
“Jesus was teaching banking. It is another form of saving that allows money to grow.”
Why many Christians struggle
Kashesha Explained why believers often suffer while non-believers excel.
“Many Christians wait only for the supernatural and ignore the practical principles God already placed in Scripture,
“The Bible records wealth creation through planning, saving, and stewardship. None of that was supernatural, it was obedience to principle.” He said.
He concluded that saving is both a financial and spiritual discipline. It creates wealth, prepares you for hard seasons, and becomes a witness to those who do not believe. As Joseph showed, and as Jesus affirmed, the wise save. The faithful also save. And when we have done our part, we can trust God to do His.
