A total of 270,129 candidates participated in the November 2023 examinations, showcasing a slight decline from the previous year’s figure of 278,760. This decrease of 8,631 candidates translates to a percentage decline of 3.1%.

The numbers, though reduced, signify the commitment of a substantial cohort navigating academic challenges amid dynamic circumstances.

In 2023, an insightful breakdown of candidates’ subject participation reveals that 185,021 students tackled 6 or more subjects. Impressively, 54,420 candidates excelled by passing 5 or more subjects with a grade C or better, reflecting an overall pass rate of 29.41%.

These statistics provide a nuanced perspective on the academic strengths and achievements of the candidates.

Delving into the gender-specific performance, the November 2023 results showcase a commendable advancement in favor of female candidates. The percentage pass rate for females stands at 30.1%, while their male counterparts achieved a rate of 29.06%.

This significant improvement of 5.03% and 3.9%, respectively, underscores the positive trajectory in empowering the girl child academically.

Examining the broader landscape, the overall pass rate for the 2023 examinations witnessed a noteworthy increase of 4.35% compared to the results of 2022.

This upward trend echoes the dedication and resilience demonstrated by the candidates and the educational support systems in place.
