Fifty young females and male adults were equipped with livelihood skills by Vana Vedu Trust Academy in an event held in Chitungwiza on October 25 2025
The 3rd Graduation Edition since 2019 was graced by esteemed guests from various government and community departments.
The guests included Mr. Tobias Maenzanise, Principal Herman Gmeiner Waterfalls, SOS Children’s Villages, Department of Social Development, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Minister of Youth, Office of The President, Chitungwiza Municipality, and Chitungwiza Junior Council, among others.
Courses offered included livelihood skills, baking, IT, welding, auto electrics, motor mechanics, and nurse aid.
Speaking at the event, Director of Vana Vedu Trust Academy, Chipo Bessie Mahamba, said, “Because I failed to find the one who helped me during my time doesn’t mean I should not help. I am here to help my community of Chitungwiza and Zimbabwe at large.”
“We help without expecting anything else from them, my heart bleeds for children like them. If we find more people who have the same initiative as me, we can move the nation forward as we are moving with the national mantra of leaving no one behind,” she added.
Some of the graduates have already found employment, including Isaac Majurira, who did his attachment at Chemai Nesu and was hired full-time, and Nigel Mufundisi, who did catering and is now fully employed.
The event also featured the installation of prefects, headboy, headgirl, and their deputies, led by the junior mayor of Chitungwiza Municipality. SOS Children’s Village donated 110 chairs and 50 desks to Vana Vedu Trust Academy.
Vana Vedu Trust Academy operates without funding or donors, utilizing resources from well-wishers, and does not charge students fees.
Vana Vedu Trust Academy is a philanthropic organization in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe, dedicated to empowering underprivileged youths with practical life skills and promoting children’s rights. Founded by Chipo Bessie Mahamba in 2019, the trust offers free education and training in various disciplines, including nurse aiding, baking, cosmetology, weaving, and braiding.
The organization has made a significant impact in the community, with over 300 kids assisted in Seke area alone. Graduates have gone on to start their own businesses, and some have found employment. The trust’s initiatives also focus on combating drug and substance abuse, with programs like Game Time, which promotes physical activity, teamwork, and social skills.
Vana Vedu Trust Academy relies on donations and support from well-wishers, as it operates without funding or donors. The organization’s vision is to guide youths away from negative activities and help them carve meaningful paths in life.
