A 20-year-old Ravu Donemore, a former student at St. Rupert Secondary School in Makonde, Mashonaland West who excelled as the top student in the November ZIMSEC examinations is facing challenges in pursuing his dream of studying Data Science/Artificial Intelligence due to financial constraints.
After completing his Advanced Level studies many brilliant students look forward to a better future but to Ravu it is a different case.
Born into a family of six as the second son in the Chidodo area of Mbire District (Zambezi Valley) Ravu’s parents rely on self-help projects and small-scale farming which has made it impossible for them to send him to tertiary education.
“We survive by hand to mouth mode, so I need someone who can help me with at least a scholarship to pursue my studies and fulfill my dream so that I can relieve my family.”
“I come from Chidodo in Mbire District in Mashonaland Central; I did Form 4 at Chidodo Secondary School in 2022, and I proceeded to A Level after achieving better results.”
Both of his parents are still alive, they are unable to raise the funds necessary to support his education preventing him from pursuing a degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science.
“My parents really want me to go to school, but they are surviving by doing some self-help projects, specializing in small farming. They are no longer able to support my education.”
The talented student scored 14 points at A Level in the following subjects: Business Studies A, Pure Mathematics A and Economics B.
He had been supported by an individual from Form 1 until Form 6, but unfortunately that support has now ended due to financial difficulties.
Despite the odds he faced including sometimes going without food, soap and other necessities, Ravu managed to excel as a day student at his school.
“If I can manage to study my career, when I get a job, I wish to help some other fellow students who have the same scenario as me,”he said.
