Isaiah 6:3 “And one called out to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”
Prayer: Father, we come to you today humbled by your majesty and presence. We thank you for the beauty of your holiness and the power of your Spirit. May our hearts be open to the truth of your Word and our lives be transformed by your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
It is truly amazing that in Isaiah 6:3, we learn that angels are singing “Holy, holy, holy” to the Lord Almighty. The prophet Isaiah was in the temple when he heard this song of praise.
He saw the glory of the Lord and was so overwhelmed that he asked to be forgiven for his sins. We too can be moved by the holiness of God and be forgiven for our sins if we come to Him in faith. We can learn three important lessons about holiness from this scripture.
First, holiness is awe-inspiring.
The angels sang praises of God’s holiness and it filled the entire temple. Holiness is an attribute of God that is beyond our human understanding and so it should cause us to stand in awe and reverence before Him.
Second, holiness is all-encompassing.
The angels sang “the whole earth is full of his glory”. Holiness should not be seen as something distant or removed from us, but rather a force that should fill our lives and transform us from the inside out.
Third, holiness is redeeming.
When Isaiah heard the song of the angels, he realized how sinful he was and begged for God’s forgiveness. Holiness should remind us of how far we fall short of God’s standards and draw us closer to Him in repentance and faith.
In closing, let us remember that holiness is an awe-inspiring, all-encompassing, and redeeming force in our lives. Let us seek to live our lives in such a way that we honor God’s holiness and share it with those around us.
