AWARD-WINNING professional coach Jennet Mapani encouraged Christian women to understand grooming and etiquette in their day-to-day interaction so that they can become better women.
Speaking at the Daughters of Fire conference held under the auspices of Phenomenal Woman Foundation (PWF), Coach Mapani outlined the importance of grooming and etiquette, encompassing outward and inward appearance as well as conduct, proper behaviour, civility, courtesy, good manners and politeness.
“It is important to educate women about personal hygiene because it helps them to be more confident in themselves and it helps them to deal with personal issues to a point where their past does not affect them anymore,” she said.

“Well-groomed people know how to carry their selves in certain places, they easily adapt and know how to behave when you they move from one place to another. Well-groomed people know how to communicate too because grooming is not about how one looks but also how one talks to other people.”
She said a well-groomed person exhibited virtues of humility and civility and knew how to communicate and esteem others.
She also taught the women who attended the conference about personal hygiene, which she said represented “the presence of God” in a woman as it was often said that cleanliness is next to godliness.
“It is socially offensive not to bath because the bad body odour disturbs those around you, hence one should bath because when you have taken care of yourself, you would have taken care of those around you and the environment you are operating in,” she said.
Coach Mapani also said the need for grooming in church could not be over-emphasized because the church had to set good conduct.
“When church members are well-groomed, they conduct themselves properly; they are not socially offensive and they take good care of themselves and others. There is need for the church to portray an image that is welcoming and that people will not condemn,” she said.
“Grooming makes a good brand to the church and it is good for the well-being of the church, for it also helps to show high level excellence and spirituality for holiness should not be associated with untidiness and mediocrity.”
Coach Mapani said good standards in church also increased chances of winning more souls. “It also helps to show the excellence of God within the church members and helps them put their best foot forward unapologetically,” she said.

She said dress code portrayed the grooming levels of a person because a well-groomed individual knew how to dress according to the occasion.
