Christianity has its unshakable pillars on how Christians should relate to God, to know him, be like him and to work with him. Each Christian must strive to have a foundation built on these three relationships.
Knowing God is the foundation.
To know him relates to a close relationship with God which is beyond knowledge. This involves cultivating an intimate relationship with God through his word, prayer and experience of his saving power.
On John 17: 3, Jesus prays, “This is eternal life; that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Jeremiah 9:24 says, “Let the one who boasts in this; that they have the understanding to know me.”
Examples of people who knew God include Moses knew God as a friend;. David knew God as a faithful and great shepherd; Daniel knew the faithfulness of God and Mary of Bethany knew God as worthy, to mention a few.
Be like him means transformation
To be like him is a call to be like Christ. Romans 8:29 reminds us to be ‘conformed to the image of his Son’ this involves a process of transformation, transforming character, thought that reflects the image of God. The more we become like him, the more we grow a deep likeness with him.
2 Corinthians 3:18 says,” We are being transformed into his image with everlasting glory.”
Examples of people who were like Christ include Joseph who forgave when wronged; Ruth on loyalty and service, Tabitha on practical compassion and Stephen on grace under trouble.
Working with him means partnership.
To work with him is a privilege of partnering with God in his mission. Corinthians 3:9 reminds us that that. ‘We are coworkers in God’s service. Once we have known him and be like him, we become partners, working with him on his mission to save mankind from worldliness. When God saves, he calls us into his purpose
Examples of people who worked with God include Abraham worked with God to produce a nation of Israel; Noah worked with God to preserve life; Nehemiah worked with God to rebuild the walls; Mary worked with God to bring Jesus; and Apostle Paul worked with God to spread the gospel, to mention a few.
Conclusion We are called to know him, be transformed into his likeness and final work with him. In a broken world, broken hearts, broken faiths, we need to know God and strive to be like him and finally work with him to rebuild the brokenness we see. Nehemiah is a perfect example. He knew God, prayed and fasted. He took it up to rebuild the broken walls to completion. Let us serve others by declaring knowing him. Being like him and working with
