Eleana Makombe’s “Gospel Legends Night” held at Rainbow Towers on December 7 paid tribute to Zimbabwe’s vibrant gospel heritage and showcased exceptional regional talent.
“Vintage”-themed concert paid tribute to gospel music pioneers, featuring a historic reunion of legendary artists. Gospel legends, The Charambas, Baba Machanic Manyeruke and Pastor Bonnie Deuschle shared the stage in a memorable performance. The concert’s nostalgic “Vintage” theme showcased iconic gospel acts like South African phenomenon Sipho Makhabane.
The concert showcased captivating performances, including the official opening by Minister Michael Mahendere and Eleana Makombe’s duet, “Zviri Mumoyo Mangu.” Pastor Haisa, Carol Mujokoro, and Prince Mafukidze delivered powerful songs. Legendary acts Baba Manyeruke, Shuvai Wutaunashe, and Pastor Bonnie Deuschle mesmerized the audience. Fungisayi Zvakavapano-Mashavave and Sipho Makhabane revived nostalgic vibes. The Charambas closed with a rousing performance, followed by Mathias Mhere’s heartfelt finale.
With “Burukai,” Pastor Haisa took the stage with his rich, deep voice. Carol Mujokoro sang heartfelt versions of “Haiwa Jehovah” and “Rumbidzwai,” The legendary Baba Manyeruke sang the fan favorites “Makorokoto” and “Madhimoni.”
Shuvai Wutaunashe wowed the crowd with her high-pitched voice as she performed “Nditorei” and “Shelter,” Pastor Bonnie Deuschle, the Celebration Church Choir and ballet dancers turned the stage into an enthralling show. Zvakavapano-Mashavave performed hits like “Makomborero”. Popular songs like “Tauya Kuzomutenda” were sung by the audience while the Charambas, a well-known duet, concluded the evening with a performance that sounded like a collective celebration. Mathias Mhere wrapped up the night with his heartfelt songs ‘Favour’ and ‘Ndisahwira wako here uyu,’ leaving the crowd in high spirits.
Meanwhile, Icons received tribute certificates and hampers from Eleana Music Brand, honoring their lasting gospel music impact.
