The International Preachers Council of Churches (IPCC) on Saturday 3 October 2026 hosted a powerful Clergymen Leadership Conference at 25 Robson Manyika Mall, Basement in Harare CBD, drawing over 112 pastors and church leaders from across the country.
Running under the theme “Transforming Lives Through Uniting the Body of Christ,” the conference brought together church leaders from Harare, Mashonaland East, Central, West and other provinces for a day of empowerment, worship and digital transformation.
The conference marked a new milestone as IPCC partnered with Zimbabwe’s largest telecoms giant, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe. The partnership came at a time when the nation, under the leadership of His Excellency President Dr E.D Mnangagwa , is raising standards towards digital platforms and technology as part of Vision 2030.
Speaking at the event, IPCC President Rev Dr David Phiri expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Econet Wireless for partnering with the Council to equip the Church with modern tools.
“We thank Econet for remembering the Church. The pulpit must not be left behind in technology,” Rev Dr Phiri said.
Econet’s Regional General Manager for Harare South and his technical team delivered a hands-on training on Artificial Intelligence, introducing Pastors to EcoAI, a new app on the market designed to assist with research, church administration, and digital evangelism. Pastors received practical insights on how to use AI ethically to enhance ministry without losing the power of the Holy Spirit.
In a generous gesture, Econet Wireless donated branded notebooks and bottled drinks to all participants and offered free data tokens for three months. Best performing participants including Rev Dr Phiri, Apostle Magwera, Pastor Jean and Prophetess Hodza were awarded special Best Student Awards.
The conference was not only about technology. Prophetess Chipendo facilitated an informative and hard-hitting *Drug and Substance Sensitization Awareness Campaign, urging pastors to become frontline soldiers in the fight against drug abuse destroying youths in communities.
The proceedings were led by Secretary General Apostle Magwera , who gave a word of encouragement on how to become a respectful leader. He challenged pastors to uphold character, humility and honour in ministry.
The highlight of the day was the keynote address by Rev Dr Phiri. Preaching from Matthew 22:36-40 and John 3:16 , the IPCC President touched the hearts of many as he taught about LOVE.
“Leaders we need to Love our Heavenly Parent who is God and then we Love our neighbours, meaning our fellow ministers. Do not compete as Pentecostals and Apostolic because there is no God of Apostolic Churches only or God of Pentecostals only, we are one family under God,” Rev Phiri declared to thunderous applause.
After his powerful sermon, Rev Phiri made an altar call and prayed fervently for three things: for Econet Wireless Zimbabwe for supporting the work of God, for Church leaders to unite beyond denominational walls, and for Zimbabwe and its leaders.
The conference was described as spirit-filled and electrified. Speaking after the event, Overseer Chikoko from Marondera and Vice President Archbishop Marimo said, “It was an electrified conference where we experienced the heart of God.”
Praise and worship was led by Minister Giles, Pastor Tendai and the Fambai Muchiedza Choir alongside The Holy Apostolic Church Choir , whose joyful songs left the basement vibrating with praise.
Closing the day, Archbishop Nyamweda offered words of gratitude to the President of IPCC for organizing such a well-coordinated event. He also took the opportunity to wish Rev Dr Phiri a happy birthday in advance, as October is his birthday month, leading the pastors in a celebratory prayer.
The conference ended with a group photo session, with pastors leaving equipped, united and ready to transform lives.
