Chipo Mahamba, known for her bleeding heart for the marginalised has urged people to join her in learning mushroom farming, since it is one of the most sought after commodities on the market.
This comes following Mahamba, philanthropist and founder of Vana Vedu Organisation issued a press statement seeking 10 Chitungwiza Unit O residents to assist with mushroom farming for free as a method empowering them.
“As per God’s mandate, we do not have time to sit idle. We always seek the best ways to implement programs that uplift our marginalised communities.”
“This time, we are inviting people in Chitungwiza Unit O who are willing to learn mushroom production and farming,” said Mahamba.
She said this project is a lucrative opportunity and, if people take it seriously, they can excel, as witnessed in the recent workshop completed last week.
“Last week, we conducted a workshop in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Women Affairs. The turnout was good and it was a successful event. However, we are still inviting those who have not yet heard about the initiative to come and learn so that they can meet their needs.”

“Apart from being a business opportunity, mushrooms are a nutritional powerhouse with many benefits when included in our meals.”
“They’re rich in fiber and vitamins B2, B3 and B5. Their antioxidant properties boost immunity, may help lower cholesterol and blood pressure, support gut health and digestion and they are a versatile ingredient in various dishes.”
Muzivigwa Dennis, who attended the workshop, said
“I am grateful to learn about this new and interesting project. This is why learning should be part of our everyday routine. I am excited because I can now produce my own mushrooms for the very first time. Our thanks go to the Vana Vedu CEO for always creating opportunities for everyone, regardless of their qualifications.”
“Delux Mzezewa told Zimgospel Masters in an interview that he will take the skill he acquired to another level by teaching others, creating opportunities and improving health through this diet.”
Through its visionary, Chipo Mahamba, Vana Vedu Organisation has been doing great work since its inception. The organisation works tirelessly to empower the marginalised and disadvantaged students, equipping them with sustainable livelihoods and modern skills, which aligns with the government’s mantra of ‘leaving no one behind.
