Zimbabwean United Kingdom based gospel musician Pastor Olinda Marowa has set to release her sixth album titled “Victorious” on the 4th of May 2024 at Gleadless Methodist Church in Sheffield.

Pastor Olinda who started singing as a backing vocalist for Kudzi Nyakudya in 2003 and went solo in 2008 with her first album “Nyasha” said this coming up project is a ministration to herself and an encouragement to those who are at the verge of giving up since it is touching different aspects of lives.

“So on this album I am basically talking about different aspects but the album title is saying Victorious and that has really ministered to me personally. I usually would want the music I sing to first minister to myself before it reaches out to people.”

“I have understood that waiting upon the Lord might seem painful and difficult but it is the best thing to ever do for when you are aligned to the will of God you will eventually, inevitably and certainly overcome. Therefore, being Victorious, I looked at how one can have a lot of obstacles, setbacks and is on the verge of giving up but the encouragement is to wait upon the Lord and obtain victory,” she said.

The Album has 8 tracks which includes a collaboration with Kudzi Nyakudya.

Her interest for music began at a tender age. Her passion grew and she began recording music. She joined the music scene in 2003 as a backing vocalist for Kudzie Nyakudya. Known to many as Olinda Marowa, she produced her first album titled ‘Nyasha’ in 2008. In 2008, she released the hit song ‘Ndinouya Baba’ which was produced by Lyton Ngolomi and visuals were done by Willard Magombedze also known as Slimaz Pro. The video increased her growing popularity in Christian circles.

The album was followed by ‘Mufaro wangu’ in 2011, followed by ‘Jehovah Tshuvah. In 2014, the album was nominated at the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) in Best Traditional Gospel and Best Female Artist categories.

She won 2 Awards for the Album Jehovah Tshuvah, Permican Best Female Gospel musician 2015 and Midlands Music Awards(MMA)Best Contemporary Gospel musician 2016.

She attended Cold Comfort Primary School, went to Morgan High School for her Secondary Education, Herentals College for her A levels and went to Christian College Of Southern Africa (CCOSA) for her Diploma in Communications and Journalism.

Her first live show was at the Rainbow Towers Gardens in 2009. She also did live shows in Malawi between 2008 and 2009 in places like Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu. She has locally worked with artists such as Kudzi Reverend Togarasei Chivaviro, Bethany Pasinawako Ngolomi , Rumbi Zvirikuzhe, Moscow Pembere, Fortunate Kwaramba, Sabastian Magacha, Nicholas Chirunga and Bishop Blessing Shumba.

She has done a number of concerts in Zimbabwe, Malawi, UK, Botswana, Uganda and South Africa and has staged with Rebecca Malophe, Lundi Tyamara, Late Deborah Fraser, The Charambas and Fungisai Zvakavapano.
