The gesture benefited homeless people around the Town House,Joina City and CoppaCabana area among others.
Speaking during the session,ROF Founder and Operations Officer Dumisani Hamandishe said that they hosted the event on Valentine’s day as a way of showing love as per the tradition of the day.
“Valentine’s Day is a day that many people show love to their loved ones through gifting and happy memorie so since we are dedicated to impacting many lives of the needy and vulnerable, we decided to share love through a healthy, warm meal with the homeless children, differently abled people and elderly people living in the streets of Harare as they barely get remembered during these special days.
“The Share A Meal Campaign which we partnered with Future Child Foundation and OrganiCare Pvt Ltd is a programme aimed at sharing love with the homeless kids, differently abled people and the elderly people in the streets of Harare with potential to grow and become a monthly, weekly or daily program if our resources permit.
“This year as we are in the month of love we are provided a warm, healthy and home cooked meal to our beneficiaries as a way of reminding them that they are loved and cared for, hoping that we can lure the children out of the streets and get them to safer homes where they can focus on having a better lifestyle,’ he said
Some of the beneficiaries who shared their feelings after receiving the warm gesture expressed gratitude to the foundation saying that they felt remembered and loved.
“I am very delighted to have spent time with ROF on Valentine’s day, I got emotional relief and I felt loved. When we are in streets we rarely get people who remember us but this year I have seen that I’m also a human being, may God bless the team,” he said
Another beneficiary said “I’m a mother of one, I always struggle to get food for me and my kid but this Valentine’s day has brought me a smile. It is my wish that well wishers should help us to come out of the streets, the lifestyle is so painful,” she said
